Responsible for safeguarding his fellow workers on the job, warning motorists of dangers ahead, and guiding them safely through a work area.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Have a valid certification card in your possession while flagging.
- Dress properly with safety apparel, hardhat, steel toed shoes, shirt with sleeves, and long pants.
- Use an approved STOP/SLOW paddle device: 24” octagonal shaped, retroreflective red and florescent orange sheeting, legible, 5 foot minimum height.
- Stand alone and control traffic from the roadway’s shoulder or near the shoulder as possible or a closed lane.
- Use proper hand signals in conjunction with the STOP/SLOW paddle.
Qualifications and Skills
- Flagger must be at least 18 years old.
- Flagger shall communicate in English specific instructions clearly, firmly, and courteously while flagging.
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal range
