We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Designer to join our creative team, responsible for producing approximately 50–60 original cover designs per year for the Gallery and Atria imprints. This role requires advanced design capabilities, a strong aesthetic sensibility, and a keen understanding of the publishing market.
Key Responsibilities
- Create compelling and original cover designs across a variety of genres, with a strong focus on market trends and visual storytelling.
- Collaborate with or work independently from the Art Director to develop concepts that meet both creative and strategic goals.
- Utilize photography, illustration, typography, and color with a high degree of sophistication and versatility.
- Build print- and digital-ready mechanicals for ~150 titles per year
- Ensure high-quality, on-time production of covers and jackets while meeting deadlines.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of design experience (publishing preferred)
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
- Strong communication and time-management skills
- A deep understanding of design for print production and digital applications.
- Ability to think creatively while adhering to brand and publishing standards.
This role is essential to meeting production deadlines and ensuring a smooth publishing process.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
